Concrete Driveways & Flatwork in Central Minnesota
Concrete in Minnesota lives or dies on what's underneath it. We do the base prep, the reinforcement, and the finish work so your driveway, walkway, or pad holds up year after year.
- Built for freeze/thaw
- Reinforced pours
- Clean broom or stamped finish

What we build, and how we build it
Concrete that lasts in Minnesota is mostly a base-prep story. The cold doesn't care how nice your finish trowel was — if the subgrade wasn't compacted or the gravel was too thin, the slab will crack, settle, and spall within a few winters. We build flatwork the right way, every time: proper excavation, properly compacted base, the right reinforcement, the right concrete mix, and a finish that's appropriate for the application.
Driveways are the biggest investment we pour. A standard residential driveway runs 4-6 inches of concrete over 4-6 inches of compacted Class 5 base, with rebar or wire mesh through the slab and clean control joints saw-cut at the right spacing. We slope every driveway to drain, tie it cleanly into the apron and garage floor, and use an air-entrained mix that's rated for freeze/thaw exposure.
Beyond driveways we pour sidewalks, walk-up steps, garage and shed pads, AC pads, hot tub pads, garbage corrals, footings for retaining walls and pergolas, and stamped concrete patios. Each one gets the base, the reinforcement, and the joints sized to the slab. We don't carry the same playbook from job to job — pad thickness and rebar layout for a 24x30 garage floor are different than for a 4-foot walkway.
Finish options include standard broom finish (best traction and grip in winter), exposed aggregate, stamped concrete in dozens of patterns, and integral color. Stamped and colored work needs a sealer maintenance cycle in Minnesota — we'll walk you through what each finish actually looks like five winters in.

Our process
Every concrete driveways & flatwork project follows the same five steps so you know exactly what's happening on your property and when.
- 1
Layout, locates, excavation
We confirm grade, mark the pour, call in utility locates, and excavate to the depth the slab requires.
- 2
Subgrade & base prep
Subgrade is shaped and compacted. Class 5 gravel base is placed in lifts and compacted to the required depth.
- 3
Forming & reinforcement
Forms are set true to grade and squared up. Rebar mats or wire mesh are placed on chairs at the correct height — not laid on the ground.
- 4
Pour & finish
We pour a fiber-reinforced or rebar-reinforced mix at the right slump, screed level, float, and finish to broom, stamp, or smooth depending on the spec.
- 5
Cure, joints, seal
Control joints are saw-cut at the right time and spacing. Stamped or colored work is sealed once cured. The site is cleaned up before we leave.
Materials & equipment
We invest in the right materials and the right machinery so the work holds up through Minnesota winters.
- MnDOT-spec ready-mix concrete, air-entrained for freeze/thaw exposure
- #4 rebar on chairs or 6x6 wire mesh, depending on slab use
- 4-6+ inches of compacted Class 5 gravel base
- Stamped concrete forms, integral color, and sealer for decorative work
- Diamond-blade saw-cut control joints rather than tooled fake joints
Real job: Backyard concrete pad with fire pit cutout
A homeowner wanted a clean, generous backyard slab to anchor seating and a fire pit. We graded the area, formed the slab with a built-in fire pit cutout, set rebar on chairs, and poured a 5-inch reinforced pad with a smooth broom finish. We saw-cut joints to control cracking and tied the new pad cleanly into the existing patio door. Job finished in three working days.
