What we build, and how we build it

Landscape design isn't decoration — it's planning. Where the eye goes when you pull up. How the yard transitions from the front walk to the back patio. Which plants will actually survive a Minnesota winter against a south-facing wall versus a shaded north corner. Whether the side yard becomes wasted space or a quiet path to the back. We work through all of it before we install anything.

Our design process starts with a walk-around. We listen to what's not working — bare beds, overgrown shrubs, no privacy from the neighbor, no place to sit — and what you want the yard to feel like. We measure, take photos, and come back with a plan that's a real plan: bed shapes, plant lists with mature sizes, hardscape footprints, and a phased budget if you want to spread the work over two or three years.

On the installation side we handle everything we design. Bed prep with proper soil amendment. Plantings sized for impact on day one, not 'wait five years.' Steel, paver, or natural-stone edging. Mulch or river rock fill that's the right depth and the right color. Sod or hydroseed where the lawn needs help. Low-voltage lighting that makes the yard usable after dark. And the hardscape — patios, walls, walks — that anchors everything else.

We work with native Minnesota plant material whenever it fits — hardy perennials, native grasses, and shrubs that actually thrive in our climate without endless fussing. We'll also bring in well-chosen ornamentals where they belong. The goal is a landscape that looks intentional the day we leave and better every year after.

Our process

Every landscape design & installation project follows the same five steps so you know exactly what's happening on your property and when.

  1. 1

    Design consult

We walk the property, take measurements and photos, and listen to what you want the yard to do for you.

  2. 2

    Plan & quote

We come back with a written plan, a plant list, hardscape scope, and a fixed price. Larger projects can be phased to fit a budget.

  3. 3

    Site prep

Beds are shaped, old plant material is removed, soil is amended, and edging is installed. Any hardscape (walks, walls, patios) is built first.

  4. 4

    Planting & finish

Plants are placed per the design, mulched in, and watered in. Sod or hydroseed goes down on lawn areas. Lighting is installed and aimed.

  5. 5

    Walkthrough & care plan

We walk the finished yard with you, explain plant care for the first season, and stand behind anything that doesn't take.

Materials & equipment

We invest in the right materials and the right machinery so the work holds up through Minnesota winters.

  • Hardy Minnesota perennials, native grasses, and shrubs sized for impact
  • Pulverized topsoil, compost, and bed amendments matched to plant needs
  • Steel, aluminum, paver, and natural-stone bed edging
  • Hardwood mulch, decorative river rock, and Class 5 base under hardscape
  • Low-voltage LED path and accent lighting on smart transformers

Real job: Front-of-house landscape transformation

A homeowner wanted to fix a tired front yard — overgrown beds, no walkway, and a slope that washed out every spring. We designed and installed a stamped concrete walkway, a curved retaining wall planter, fresh rock beds, and a layered planting plan with shrubs, perennials, and ornamental grasses. The front of the house went from forgettable to the best-looking house on the block.
